Editorial Reviews

A new edition of the revolutionary bestseller, with four million copies in print. Allen Carr’s innovative Easyway method—which he discovered after his own 100-cigarette-a-day habit nearly drove him to despair—has helped millions kick smoking without feeling anxious and deprived. That’s because he helps smokers discover the psychological reasons behind their dependency, explains in detail how to handle the withdrawal symptoms, shows them how to avoid situations when temptation might become too strong, and enables them to stay smoke-free. Carr discusses such issues as nicotine addiction; the social “brainwashing” that encourages smoking; the false belief that a cigarette relieves stress; the role boredom plays in sabotaging efforts to stop; and the main reasons for failure. With this proven program, smokers will be throwing away their packs for good.

I quit

Reviewed by K. Zackary, 2010-03-07

I read this book over 2 years ago. I stumbled upon this book in the library and hadn't really intended on quitting. I read the book not taking it seriously but by the end of the book I was ready to quit! I just knew I would never smoke again. I still had half a pack left. It was my ninth time trying to quit and it was easy. I didn't gain any weight either. It sat on my counter for a week. I forgot it was even there. I gave a copy of this book to a friend and she quit too. I never think about ciggerettes anymore and certainly don't miss it. I highly recommened this book. It probably saved my life.

It worked for me...it will work for you

I have never even written a review of a book before this one, but felt compelled due to it's success. I have been a non-smoker now for over a year, and I definitely credit this book. It tells you to not quit smoking until you are through with the book. I read about half the book, then put it down and smoked for a few more months, and felt terrible doing it. The week I finally quit, I was sick with an awful cold yet was STILL choking down cigarettes. I knew that was the perfect time to stop, since I wouldn't want to even taste a cigarette for a few days. So I finished my last smoke, told my friend "that's it, the last one," and then I went home and finished the book. There is definitely some repetitive language, and some oddly written chapters, but the information and the way it makes you think about smoking, is invaluable. I also gave the book to my pack-a-day cousin and he quit as well. It really works. You can't imagine how good it feels to be a non-smoker, and this book makes you see that. If you are ready to quit, give this book a try.

I smoked for 15 years even with chronic asthma. I tried to quit 13 times, but it was this book that helped me stop smoking. I can't say anything better than the other 500+ five star reviews of this book. I just wanted to add my success to the group! Hooray for Allen Carr! Hooray for this book! I'm free!

Stop smoking the EASY way

I think this is actually a really good way to quit. He doesn't really tell you anything you don't already know but you still need to hear it and it's not about will power. It's about addiction not a habit big difference. And for what we all spend on stop smoking aids it can't hurt to read it. Wish you all much luck. I've beaten my addiction 6 months strong.
